There Are Many Herbal Acne Treatments That Work

By Vernell Hunter

If you have ever wondered about herbal acne treatments that work, you can try a few out with things you may have around in your kitchen. While there are people who will laugh at the idea, there is nothing that will hurt you if you are willing to give it a try. You will be the one laughing when your skin is clear and looks great.

A very simple, yet effective face wash can be made by preparing what is called an herbal infusion with water cress. What this really means is to pour boiling water over a handful of watercress and let is steep about 15 minutes. Strain out the water cress and let sit to cool. When you can stick your finger in it without it burning it is ready to use. Simply dab a cotton swab or wash cloth in the infusion and wipe your face with it.

If you do not have any water cress on hand, you can use lemon juice instead. Add a tablespoon of lemon juice to one-half cup of warm water and use to wash your face. Do not use any additional sop with either of these infusions. If you have open sores, it is best to use the water cress, find some at the grocery store.

A nice way to open your pores is to heat some chamomile flowers in a pan of water until boiling; remove form heat and let cool but make sure it is still steaming. Hold your face over the pan and drape a towel over your head to keep the steam directed at your face. Use a clean washcloth to wipe the sweat off before removing the towel.

If you are going to be sitting around after dinner, take some honey and put it on your pimples. The antiseptic qualities will get into your pores and kill the bacteria that clogs them and causes inflamed pimples. You can leave it on all night if you do not mind a bit of sticking to your pillow case.

Once you have cleaned your face, a good mask two times a week will help clear things up too. Red or bentonite clay powders are very good for drawing out impurities. Mix the clay with some apple cider vinegar until it is a consistency that you can smear on your face. Let it dry, about 30 minutes, and then carefully wash off with a clean, wet cloth.

You can start you day with an oatmeal scrub. Grind some oatmeal in a food processor and mix in some tea tree oil and chamomile tea. Use it as you would any facial scrub. Once you rinse it off, wipe your face with witch hazel as a toner. Your skin will feel smooth and very clean.

The herbal acne treatments that work do not only clear up blemishes and have your face and skin feeling clean and soft, they will not dry your skin out or cause any adverse side effects. Do not expect your pimples to be gone over night, but you will see improvement immediately in that they will not be so red and inflamed. Keep using them and you will see results in about a week, with continuing healing all the time.
