How To Prevent Warts The Top Tips

By Carla Fallowand

A wart is not something you normally think of as contagious, but they are and to stop warts you need to understand them.

Warts are caused by HPV (human papillomavirus) and may typically take between 8 and 12 weeks to develop fully. Not all of us that are exposed to the virus will produce those cauliflower like growths but almost certainly a percentage of us will.

The virus causes areas of the skin to grow faster than other areas, which result in warts. Anyone is susceptible, but children and people with depressed immune systems are most at risk.

The HPV virus causes certain areas of the skin to grow quicker than others. The obvious way to prevent warts is to avoid contact altogether.

The main ways to avoid contracting the wart virus is to avoid contact with it altogether. Do not wear anybody elses socks, shoes and clothes as the virus spreads from contact with something that has the virus on it.

If you touch the wart then wash your hands immediately after with soap and water.

Avoid going barefoot, especially in public bathrooms or locker rooms. If you do contract a wart keep the area as dry as possible because the bacteria thrives in sweaty, moist environments.

If you go to the gym or public baths etc try not to go barefoot. Should you contract warts try to keep the area as dry as possible as the virus loves hot, moist and sweaty areas.

Keeping the wart area covered is a good idea so that they will not accidentally spread especially if you cant leave it alone. There are some over the counter products that will cure the wart as well as lots of professional ways like burning them away with a laser or needle and by using liquid nitrogen.
